對上兩輯《超級巨聲》節目，為香港樂壇發掘了不少獨特「新聲」、具有歌唱實力的生力軍，當中幾位已在樂壇嶄露頭角。全新一輯《超級巨聲 3》將繼續秉承這份使命，今次能夠登上「巨聲」舞台的18位精英，由逾4000名報名者當中脫穎而出，實力毋庸置疑，透過十五集結合真人騷的音樂節目，他們將展開一連串激烈比賽，在專業評判團就他們的歌唱技巧、形象，甚至舞蹈水平等點評之下，務求令參賽者不斷改進，從較量中提升歌藝，成為真正的樂壇「超級巨聲」！
本輯節目繼續由風趣幽默的森美夥拍田蕊妮擔任主持，緩和緊張的比賽情緒，而大會的星級評判團陣容方面，依然有連續三輯擔此重任的「首席評判」兼資深歌手陳潔靈、著名唱片監製趙增熹、倫永亮，全能音樂人陳奐仁，以及新加入的著名歌手兼資深音樂人恭碩良，而大會更會陸續邀請更多具份量的嘉賓評判，在比賽不同階段加入參與評選，務求令參賽者獲得音樂上更全面的意見，自我完善！
賽事將分為兩個階段，在首階段，主要考驗參賽者的基本唱功，他們會分別以獨唱、合唱等形式進行比試，預計每次淘汰一至兩名參賽者；第二階段，晉級的參賽者將由星級形象顧問為各人造型，接受更強考驗，例如與「巨聲1、2幫」的師兄師姐配對進行合唱對戰、經典電視金曲等進行比試；細節賽例會因應每場賽事作出些微調整，最後選出成為得分最高者成為終極冠軍，踏出進軍樂壇第一步。
