Predict the type of compound（ionic＼covalent）formed when each of the
following pairs of elements combine.
a.phosphorus and hydrogen
b.magnesium and nitrogen
c.silicon and chlorine
d.carbon and oxygen

在我看起來
感覺裡面沒有離子鍵啊?
因為離子鍵通常是金屬離子吧?

感覺全不都是共價鍵?

裡面只有鎂和氯平常會以離子形態存在吧?(歪頭

我確定d一定是共價鍵

其他相對來說用判斷的話感覺也都是共價

如果硬要是要有離子鍵的話
應該就是b了

A is covalent bond.B is ionic bond, C is covalent bond D is covalent bond

reasons are as followed,
covalent bond is formed when elements share their electrons in their outermost electron shell
ionic bond is formed when metals donate their outermost electron and non-metals accept the electrons from metal. the attraction between positively charged metal ions and negativily charged non-metal ions is ionic bond.
Thus, ionic bond is generally formed when a metal reacts with a non-metal, like choice B.
Covalent bond is generally formed when one or more atoms of non-metals react, like choice A C and D
